Available Roof Materials

One of the choices you make when deciding which cupola will best suit your roof is to decide which type of material which will best suit the roof of your cupola. The three most popular choices are aluminum, wood, and copper.

Aluminum

Aluminum is the lowest-cost choice for your cupola roof, providing a lightweight and durable top for your cupola that will not crack, rust, peel, or fade. Available in a smooth or embossed finish, aluminum roofs are also fire resistant and will look new for years after installation.

Copper

Copper roofs on cupolas may be pure copper or plated copper on a wood, fiberglass or vinyl roof due to the ease with which it can mold to intricate designs. Also, as copper ages, its reddish-brown color naturally turns into an attractive patina green.

Wood

Wood cupola roofs may be made out of pine, oak, redwood, or cedar. They may be shingled, paneled or pagoda-style and are often treated with primer to increase durability.  Weathervanes are often added to further enhance their beauty.
